Is any one familiar with "New Glass" which is a product that is supposed to replace wax on a boat. It is wiped on and is supposed to be shinny and slick. Just spray off the boat and dirt and salt will wash away. I have heard that it will turn yellow after a couple of years and is very difficult to remove. I'm wondering if any one has any experience with this product. I would like to uswe it, but, now am leary. Thanks. Dave

fix your problem, don't just cover it up.
Dave: Look into Island Girl Products. There is a thread going on about it here for the last day or so. It actually fixes much of the problem with your gelcoat. Sort of like feeding the finish. It is not difficult to apply and easy to keep up. If you decide that it is not your cup of tea after you have applied it, you can always use one of the cover up products.

There are several previous threads on this topic. Some folks love the stuff while others won't touch it. I used it on my '83 h34 and was pleased. Yes, it did yellow after 2-3 years. Came off fairly easy with the right solvent. Looks much better than any wax job with a lot less effort. I stripped mine off last fall and will put on a new coat next month. (so Peggie's wrong) Barry

Try Island Girl
I decided to get brave and spent the afternoon cleaning the hull with the Island Girl cleaner and then putting on the sealant wax. Its actually quite easy to apply if you don't mind doing a few contorsions on the dock. The hull looks awesome! I guess the real test will be to see how well it holds up, I'll repost after 6 months or so. The Sea Glow cleaner even took care of the grungy yellow stuff on the (formerly) grey rub rails. It took a fair amount of scrubing with a 000 pad though.

Took me forever to get mine off!
I know some people swear by the stuff, but for a long time before finally getting mine off, I swore AT it. After it started changing colors and looked real dingy, I tried everything including wet sandpaper but could not get it all off. Peggy tipped me to the only solvent that seems to work, and as much as I hate waxing, will not take that kind of shortcut again. Picture Mop 'n Glo or some other acrylic coating on a floor and how many coats you can have before you need to strip it. NuGlass does not come off evenly -- or easily.

To remove it just use Spray 9, the stuff will come right off. You only have to be carefull when washing after sailing not to clean the deck wiht Spray 9. ( Try it on a test section this season) good luck.
