New Fuel System (H27)

Just finished installing the new fuel system on my boat, I posted it in 3 parts, there is a lot of information and lots of pictures!

I converted from a 3 gal portable tank to a 9 gal below deck tank with the works! New system has pumps, filters, gauges, noise makers and more.

Pretty nice job BUT

From a rules standpoint it is illegal to have the bulb below decks

Not sure the nature of the fuel pump but the small motors are not really setup for a pressured supply of fuel

And outboard should have no problem with a below deck tank and the primer bulb in the normal position outside by the motor as it a normal install on any larger outboard

The electric pump is only activated when the choke circuit is powered, so when you push the key in to choke the engine, it activates the electric pump to push fuel up to the engine, which is what the choke is trying to accomplish already by increasing the vacuum pressure on the fuel system to suck more fuel into the engine. This means that I may not need or want to crank the engine with it choked, but also means I really shouldn't need to.

The primer ball is purely there as a backup in the event that the electric pump fails, or to make bleeding the fuel filter easy.

As for the primer bulb being below deck, Thanks for that, I wasn't aware that they shouldn't be below deck. I did purchase a brand new one as opposed to reusing the old one (it started to show dry rot last year) so it should be safe from leaks for a while, and I'll keep a good eye on it for any sign of rubber deterioration (as usual), and when I see the first sign of dry rot or deterioration on the rubber I'll either redo that piece so it is by the engine, or find a manual fuel pump that should be installed there.
