The last three weeks we've been driving ourselves crazy trying to trace down water in our H33 bilge. At first it was brownish and a little salty. Sponged it outabout two gallons. Next week no water found. next week water, sponged out. Two days later water, but clear.
Friday and Sat. slept aboard, and I noticed that the water pump was cycling about every 5 min. or so. We checked the hose fitting in the galley, the head, and under the seating. Not a drop.
Went to see if the shaft fittings had water, no but noticed that water was drooling down from the back of the cockpit.
It was the outside shower head, the little fittinf inside that turns on the spray had given up its attempt to turn off the flow. What had happened someone had taken a shower but didn't turn off the taps. :cussing:the constant pressure had finaly made the shower head give up.
The reason we had trouble finding the leaks was that it only happened when there was water pressure.

Also check your waterheater. Now...Back to shower ....I put in a simple cut off valve in the shower before the tee which feed the faucets now I don't have people leaving the faucets on or turning them off the wrong way and stripping the knobs. Cold side can stay on for when flushing the head and heat side only gets used mostly by me the MFO. Crew gets to use the bath house. I also put in a rocker switch under the galley sink just behind cabinet door next to water pump. I do not leave pump on all the time. Only leave on when I am there and going to be using it. My pump is loud when running and I like it that way. At the dock I am on dock side water, it flows through a preasure regulator. When I leave boat I leave faucet at gallery on. Then as I am leaving I turn off dockside hose bib. If I Forget to do so which is ussaully about half way home, I just give a call to one of my great live aboard dock neighbors, and they will shut it off while walking past my boat.
