By about 9pm Pacific I'll have the new gear ads online. Here's an overview of the modifications:
- If you have an ad online now, please check your ad for any unwanted changes. Particularly photos. They should be okay but some of the data had to be converted and that can causes mistakes.
- Simpler listing and ad display. For sale ads on the left, gear wanted ads on the right. The ad layout is simple as dirt.
- each ad displays the advertiser (site user), listing date, number of views, location, and contact phone. Location will be required going forward.
- The ads accept up to 4 photos
- Contacting advertisers is handled through the site's Private Message system. If you're an advertiser be sure you haven't shut your PM option off.
- Ads run for 30 days. Renewal is accomplished with one click from your list of ads. You'll receive an email on the day of expiration with a link to the renewal screen.
- You can renew your ad any time after it's been online for a week or so. You don't have to wait until it expires.
- As before, the for sale ads are only available to members who have been registered for 90 days. These ads exist for the benefit of people who really use the site... NOT for the convenience of salvagers who want to duck eBay fees.
As always, new software will have a bug or two (or three). If you find anything broken please note the URL (the page address) and either post it here or send an email to phil at sailboatowners dot com.
