Last night we installed a number of updated, improved features on the sites. These affect primarily the sites for Beneteau, Catalina, Hunter, Mac, and Oday, but has some impact on SBO as well.

The new stuff:

Boat Info Menu
Owner Mods
Owner Photo Albums
Owner Directory (just the by-model view)
Boat Specs
Boat Reviews
Downloads
Weekly Quiz
About Us
Contact link
Liability statement
Terms of use
Advertise here

In addition, the site home page was moved to the forum server so it is now at http://______owners.com instead of shop._______owners.com.

The classifieds, both boats and gear, were upgraded a couple weeks ago.

Generally speaking, the new code has larger photos and fonts, should be a bit more mobile-friendly, uses a _ton_ less server overhead, and has better nav. It should also be more stable.

The owner mods got the biggest facelift, with the most important change being the ability to connect a block of text to a specific photo. So you can now write about a specific photo and provide step by step info that will be much easier to follow. (For those around before 2008, it's more like the old mods feature we had back then.)

Needless to say, a change of this magnitude will have some bugs. If you find one please either post it here or email it to phil at sailboatowners dot com. The most important thing to send is the address of the page where you found the bug. That's how I find it in the tens of thousands of lines of code.

Thanks, and be sure to check out the changes!

I couldn't get to HOW on Firefox. Got it from Chrome. Actually, FF has been sticky lately. I'll do an update.

Re: New features installed (improvement alert... and bug ale

I think the old home page is stuck in your browser cache. I added a command to clear it; hopefully that will help. That may also explain why it worked in Chrome, if you don't normally use Chrome.

After installing an update to Firefox, I got the same message. See screen print:

I'm on Firefox and have done the updates without any issues. Maybe clear your cookies?

Might try logging out, clearing browser cache, then logging in again, too.

Had a search problem again

On the cruising sailor's forum the search at the top of the page takes you to a page that says thanks for contributing - once your post has been approved by the moderator, it'll appear in the index. Using the search link at the bottom of the page works fine.

Unrelated, but are the archives beyond 2009 or so gone?? I was trying to search for a post from 2007 that Google knew about, but the link is dead.
