I've had a couple requests lately for a search that will find forum users by location. Fortunately, someone already developed this so all I had to do was install. (Love it when that happens!)

Click Members and you'll see a new link for Member Search at the left end of the gray sub-menu. It allows you search by any combination of state/prov., country, and home port.

Enjoy!

I just tried it and I would recommend using only one search criteria. I first searched on my LOCATION of Oceanside, and my STATE of Ca. I got tons of hits for the entire state of California. So I did LOCATION only and the search was narrowed down to my city. However, since there are two Oceanside, one in CA and the other in NY, it probably showed both.

Play with it!

I tried owners in Australia (country = AU) and the province of Tasmania (state = TA) and got a list of owners in Tasmania, AU. So yes, keep trying different combinations until you get what you want. Also, remember that not all of the inputs are standardized so there could be some old registrations where the country is spelled out, misspelled, etc.

Is there a search field to list users by hours consumed?

Isn't the scary part why anyone would need to use this to find out where I live?

Isn't that what signatures are for?

My wife was right,:poke: I do have lots of friends here. :yikes:

How long have I been here anyway? ;)

OK, before ya say it: Too long...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

So how do you know where I am? I mean, with the heavy duty tin foil hat that I wear all the time, I dont see how you can track me.

That is so ridiculous, there's no room in my cockpit lockers, I have them filled with jamming devices.

I can't find this.
Found "find member" but it just takes me to a list of people currently visiting.

Phil, don't know if the app you used has the ability to search by date of last activity or date of last post? When getting the results from our location, many if not most have joined, sometimes back a long time ago, but haven't been active for years or posted in years. Guessing they have dropped out of sailing and are no longer interested. It would be nice to be able to see who is active? Just a thought.

Skipper, you need to drill down one more layer. On that same page, in the upper left, click on "Member search". It's in a gray box, right under the word "Home" in white letters. Once you click on "Member Search", the page that comes up lists things like user name, location, state, province, etc. Each of those is searchable. I put "FL" into location and got everyone in Florida.

There is another way to get to the Members Search. As described by Phil and SFS, also...

On the top of THIS page, the one you are reading right now, you will see MEMBERS with three horizontal lines just to its right. Put you mouse over the three lines but do not click. A pull down menu will appear. The first link will be MEMBERS SEARCH. Click on that and you are there.
