New doors finally

Finally installed my bi-folding doors, in my boat these are much more convenient as the standard ones have to be removed or you sacrifice some seating. I did not do this varnish, as the slats were already in place I was sure I’d mess it up. My yard sprayed the varnish on to ensure even coats on the slats. I didn’t even know that was done.

Really highlights the old surrounding peeling cetol bright work beautifully!

Very nicely done. Can’t tell from the photos, but are they on removable hinges so you can remove them to give more seating room?

Yes, same as my old doors you can lift them straight up off the hinges. My issue with the old ones is they were twice as long so when open they really got in the way unless you removed them. It was always much harder than it seemed it should be to align the hinges on the pins when setting back in place, unless the water was perfectly still, plus I’d always whack them on something when stowing below.

The folding ones I can leave in place and still have seating for 6 comfortably, I’ll only need to remove when I want 8 in the cockpit, which is pretty rare.

It’s a small thing, but most of my sails now won’t require dealing with the doors at all, just means one less thing to do before I can get sailing.
