New Catalna 27

I heard that Catalina has a new 27 that is available with a trailer and was shown at the Annapolis Boat show. I have looked for photos etc. and have not found any. Have any of you seen this boat or its pricing/availability?

I had a chance to physically check one out at the Annapolis boat show. It is completely different than the older Catalina 27s. Would make a fun racer/cruiser for a couple. Huge cockpit. Spartan, plastic interior. V-berth and quarter berth. Small galley and a huge head for a 27 footer. I am 5'8" and couldn't stand up all the way down below. Price tag is in the low $80k.

I have a 1985 Catalina 27 so the 275 Sport was like visiting and alien planet. My wife and I sail with two kids comfortably. I couldn't imagine more than two (close) people on the 275 overnight. It's trying to achieve two goals with one boat.

I wish they had pulled out the old C27 molds and made those again (but I am biased). With so many great used boats out there at that length it's hard to imagine someone dropping 80k. If you want a cruiser, buy a used boat or the Catalina 31 new. If you want a racing boat, but a one design like a J-boat. I applaud Catalina for stepping out, but I don't see/understand the target market.

I saw it at the boatshow as well. It has a tiller and a wide open cockpit. Definitely a racer. Not a cruiser.

It has two heel configurations, and two engine options. That's four models before you look at things like the bow spirt.

Sporty, maybe. One Design, no way.

The admiral would not like any of the configurations, as they all have essentially the same interior. I'd prefer the interior of the 320, and attach my own bowsprit.
