Dear Folks, I have just purchased a 1984 Catalina 25 swing keel, I need to know what needs to be looked over before she goes in the water this spring for a realativley toruble free summer. Standing rig is good, orderd a owners manuel from CD.

Get a Survey
Hi New, Congratulations! there is no substitute for a good survey on your vessel. It would have been a good idea to do that before purchase, but the information gained from having an experienced surveyor go over the boat is worth every penny. It gives you a good feeling about all the strong points, and let you know what/where to watch for future repairs/upgrades. I know it seems expensive, but it really is worth it. I have seen the boat and went over it with a catalina owner who is a 3rd party checked the keel ect just wanted a group opinion

May I Suggest:
the International Catalina Association in addition to this site. You can search the archives, and there are many owners of your type of sailboat. We happen to own a C25 standard rig/fin keel and I use both of the sites to get help when it is needed.
