New Catalina 30 fuel tank

I'm installing a new fuel tank in my Catalina 30. Any suggestions about whether it should be just fastened to the plywood base like the old tank or would placing a layer of 1/4 inch closed cell foam between the tank and the plywood base be of any benefit.

Keep it clear

the very last thing you want is to trap any moisture underneath, which would begin to corrode your new tank. Use the air space. There's a good reason they built it that way.

That's one reason we sail Catalinas - where else can you call the factory and order a new fuel tank for a 20 + year old boat and get it by UPS within a week !!! at a good price, even with the US / Can $ exchange.
