I've not been paying attention... so it has a retractable sprit, but it's deck mounted? Oh boy.
Yep, that picture isn't helping much either... the cut of that jib is REALLY not helping.

You know I like the lines from aft.
The room below is impressive, and the layout smart... What is best is the head. Where it is located makes it quite large (important for the fairer sex, and guys like me old and fat, using the head on the Capri 22, or my 25 is painful (literally banging your head on the bolts to the hatch))...

It's probably a quick boat... at least as quick as an S2 7.9, which is substantial... no it's not a sport boat (which is why the name is probably a bad choice).

What I can't get over is.. the clothed it in light blue (a very old scheme color), and put what look like low budget sails on it (they likely aren't since they are Doyle, but they LOOK low budget).

Again some positives? The deck going forward seems wide, the cockpit huge! I think it'd be a nice sailing boat. It's obvious that it's upwind performance was sacrificed somewhat for sailing hot angles off wind with the asym. I bet the boat would be a SCREAMER with a 130-140% genoa on that roller, and if it did some deck sweep with it, all of a sudden upwind would be nearly as fun as down.

Thanks to the Capri 22, and the Capri 25, my tastes for looks lead me to think THIS is what a sexy 26 footer should look like (Left Coast Dart):

Or go to something like this (Tripp 33):

Yep it's trailerable(barely):

I mean there is also the Hobie 33, but it's pretty ugly too (but fast as anything).

The way I see the 275 is by the time I buy one Catalina will have other color options. The one I purchase will be gently but well used. Retrofitted with a few items like electronics, maybe aft mounted winches, maybe a larger head sail arrangement . Maybe not.

Truth be told I would take one just as currently offered. Down the road, used, at a greatly reduced price. Until then I will keep my Capri 22, it is the favorite of many boats we have owned throught the years. I love my little 22, it meets my current sailing requirements and probably will for many years to come.

The new Sail magazine just arrived, guess what boat is listed best for 2014 in the under 30 foot catagory?

Catalina 275

That's astonishing... but I guess the J/88 is a 2012 design....

The most talked about thing on this forum - by virtue of 5 pages of conversations - is now the C 275.

ENOUGH ALREADY!

Okay, now I will step down from my soap box.

Capri 22 rules! And should here as well....

Ok, I'll say it... the Capri 22 is the best bargain NEW boat for sale, that still has good sailing characteristics... for an "all up" price of around $26,000, trailer, motor, sail away condition BRANDY NEW, it's pound for pound about as good a buy as you can get...

Yes that price might be 2 or 3 years old, but it's not far off (I've priced them out twice) before I bought mine used.

Most talked about topic does not make it closer to everyone's heart. It's human nature to consider upgrades, or downgrades... Its sailor nature to want the maker of their boat to be successful.
