HI I'm just about to install the new 3/4 inch teak and holly plywood cabin sole in my seidelminn 24-1 . I had too do a lot of structural repairs on her. "water damage" It's time too seal all sides and edges. What is the best choice in products for this important step? Thanks Alfred

We just redid our sole pieces, used Minwax floor treatment, three coats. Ultimate Sole is out of business. We treated the edges with the minwax. Figured if it coated the tops it oughta be good for the edges, too.
I did some new 12MM Teak Plywood pieces to replace old teak Ply for about 8 -10" up from galley deck. I coated the rear side and all bottom edges with West Systems, as burner73 recommended. I think I gave it 2 coats. If I were doing the sole I would do the same coating to the side edges and bottom surface also. Then do the MinWax (or other) coating on the top surface. I have used Ultimate Sole on all of my Ssole Boards and loved it. It was great stuff - a shame that they went out of business.
I replaced the sole in our boat a short while ago. I used polyester resin and coated bottom top and esp the sides with it several coats each. You can get epoxy which is crystal clear but to tell you the truth I have not noticed any appreciable difference with using the polyester and its considerably less expensive then epoxy.
