Looks like you got a decent base to work with, congratulations! Most of those Boat Angel auctions I've seen are a fitting last chance for those boats. Would you mind sharing how much you picked her up for?

$1300. I know a lot of those auction boats are often derelicts, salvages, sunken, etc. This one seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Would love to have gotten her for less but I feel alright with what I paid. The PO had her for 15 years according to the title and when I inquired with the marina staff if he had moved on to a bigger boat I was told that he was an older gentleman who just decided it was time to hang it up. Apearently it had been for sale for some time before being donated a few weeks ago. I'm only guessing here but I imagine it was donated simply because slip renewal is coming up and his storage contract was up at the end of this month.

I think you made out pretty darn good there. I paid $1000 for mine and I didn't get a trailer or a motor! Hopefully you won't have to get into a restoration project like I have going, she looks to be in good shape. Really sweet to find all those extra goodies and with luck that motor will run well with no issues.

By golly, looks like you did good. Something I found that I'm sold on instead of waxing is "Poly-Glow". I bought the kit, and the prep is the hardest part. Once the hull is stripped of wax and stains, you simply wipe on the "Poly-Glow" and after a couple coats the deep luster comes back to the gelcoat, and after 5 or so coats you're good to go for the season, maybe two. It even brings back the waterline and shear lines like new again. As beautiful as it works on the hull, I still prefer Meguiars Flagship wax for the deck and cockpit.

Seen she had a National C-22 Association sticker from years ago. We're still going strong in our 43rd year!

Keep us updated, and we LOVE photos!

Jacomo, I bought my first cat 22 back in 2006 thru boat angle and it was 4 hours away. No trailer so I had to modify mine from swing keel to hold the wing keel so I know just what you went thru. Great times, The cat 22 swing keel I just got this past December is same as yours, it too was donated but not with boat angle, so I was able to talk to the seller many times before driving 1 hour to get it and didn't have to pay till I looked it over.

I've seen that boat out on Carlyle lake lots of times. I could never keep up with her in my 1980 C22. You got a GREAT deal - Good Luck!
