I have a chance to pick up a Hunter 30-T/SL. I have never sailed a Hunter and was looking for some info. What does T/SL stand for? This boat is a 1991 and look to be in all right condition. Mostly just needs a good cleaning. Was there any real problems with This boat and year that I need to be aware of? Who does the boat sail in High winds and light wind? is there any thing else I should know about this boat?

The hunter 30 is a fine vessel. I have had my 1979 for abt 3 yrs now and love it. You should find a solid hull and plenty of room in salon for her size. As far as sailing , she will sail with less heel than most and in general a pretty stable boat.Although I am married and the admiral isnt ready to live aboard, the boat would accomodate the 2 of us or one person for extended crusises easily. I have had her in 30 mph winds and she rides very well. The T/sl simply means she is a sloop rig and the T designatges the deck design change made in the early 80's. oyu deck should be raised a bit in the forward area as opposed to slopping down if i am not mistaken. in short, I love my hunter 30 and not afraid to take a little weather with her. I have added an A/c -heat unit and a solar system for running the 12V refridgeration unit on extended crusies.

Different design
Mark: Chuck is referring to a completely different design. His boat is a Cherubini. I suggest that you look in the reference library for the reviews ont these different boats so you can find your specific model. As I remember there are no major complaints on these boats.

Having car trouble
Chuck, Have you had any trouble with the car which runs along a track to regulate the boom? The connection point for the block above broke and I am tiring to find a replacement rather than start all new. Any thoughts? Can you get this type of stuff from Hunter and what is the best way to contact them. P.S. I love my '79 Hunter 30 as well. Thanks

Great Boat
I don't know what the SL means but the 30T is a great boat. You have to reef early with the big main, usually around 13 knots. I made a lot of upgrades - refrigeration, A/C, electric head, bigger holding tank, rigid vang and other minor stuff. This is a very comfortable boat in the series of best boats ever made by Hunter (1991-1994/1995).
