We just bought a Beneteau 311 / 2000 We have been cleaning she and making her beautiful. I was cleaning in the forward v-berth area. I removed the custions and the floor board. The one at the bow had a small amount of water and salt crystals. Is that normal? What do we do about it? Just want to take good care of our boat and keep her in good shape.

We have the same dampness under the fwd v berth cushions and put it down to just body heat and we air out all the bedding and cushions every couple of weeks and this seems to cure the dampness. Note there is a rubber backing to the cushions and this may affect the dampness issue. Keep cool
Froli makes a product which not only seems to eliminate dampness under the cushions but also makes sleeping more comfortable, at least it does for us.

Its amazing, when sleeping aboard, how much condensation collects under the berth cushions, esp during the winter. We installed a six foot length of Hypervent and it really worked well at cutting down the moisture build up.
