Spring did seem like it was getting here, but now it's f@#%*&g snowing.:cussing:

Anyways, the weekend was decent and I was able to get some work done on the motor (and gave Maine Sail a laundry list of questions on his section).

We were also able to complete the "denaming" ceremony and apply the new graphics. So I thought I would post a picture.

The name comes from my Grandmother. It was her nickname when she was growing up. She was a huge fan of the ocean and the beach and she passed this on to her kids and grand kids. I remember her sitting at the beach for hours while I would sail my little sailboat around Onset Harbor and Little Harbor. She also loved to paint ocean scenes and we will have one hanging in the salon.

Once she is launched we will finish the naming and re-christening ceremony. Then a couple of shakedown sails to Newport and Block Island before sailing her home to Hingham. I can't wait, splashing her in about a month.

Pleased that you followed a correct renaming procedure. As a Shellback I would recommend the incorporation of another in any such ceremony. You can't be too cavalier about these things.

As it happens, my Grandfather is still with us and is a Shellback from WWII. We plan to have him as part of the renaming festivities.

Like the Name

Let me second the idea of a correct naming ceremony. Tradition is all too important. BTW, I am a Shellback as well as a Bluenose.

What is your hull number? You boat looks great in the pictures. That is a pretty sweet smackdown of a graphic. Very nice job.

Now, if I could just figure labels out.

I am familiar with Shellbacks but what are Bluenoses? We are hull number 65
Did it on the USS Hammerhead SSN 663. Never got warm as we had ice in the bilges and I got to sleep in the torpedo room the whole trip. Funny thing was when we thought we were done with the whole initiation we go to shower off the grease and slime and found out they also turned the hot water off.

Beautiful! Make sure you pour an extra shot o' the bubbly (or whatever she liked) for Grandmom during the ceremony. I don't think Neptune would mind at all!
