If you don't recall me saying the boat has a 140% genoa so she is obviously good at sailing into the wind, until she puts the gunwales in the water, and downwind she sails pretty well with a spinacker, like I previously said I know the strengths and weaknesses of the boat and how to make each better.
I think so, I think I have a few in my old computer, ill post them as soon as I get them. I have some incredible stories too. Most of them ARE true.....well some of them.
Beam reach yes but really just ends at 20, and when sailing up wind it depends on the wind angle, but when we are really pointing we don't normally get far over 7, but we don't like that kinda sailing much so we don't usually do it. But answering your question, with a full crew we do sail with full canvas at 20 kts, but nothing over.
OK, thanks, so how do you figure you went all the way up the west coast from the Panama Canal at 8 knots when the wind is usually from the north or northwest at well over 20 knots most of the time? It's over 1,000 miles from the Mexican border to Cape Flattery.
Because with lots of wind more canvas doesn't mean more speed, all it makes is more heeling. So we did not need lots of sail to make a 8 knot average.
Imediately after we are told the truth to the questions asked: How did a crew of 8 get fed and watered for 60 days on a passage to BC? Precisely what route did you follow? At waht time of the year did this passage take place? These are fair questions that can be answered by an honest man.
I answered the first one already, we started the sail in mid august. And what do you want me to tell you about route?
First pit stop was in conch house marina in st Augustine Florida, next pit stop was on the pacific side of panama canal at flamenco yacht club and marina. And the last one before arriving in bc was in long beach Washington, called city of warenton marina.

From the bay to st Augustine yes to panama no from panama part and do you mean the day we registered to transit or the day we actually did?
We kept land in sight most of the trip(meaning we were about 50 miles off short). From st Augustine to flamenco we did not. The crew did not feel comfortable doing that so we never were far from the coast after that.
