It might be near the end of the season in the Midwest, but when you just got a new (to us) 2006 Capri 22 WK std rig, you have to get as much sailing in as you can, to hold you over though the Winter. I've familiarized myself as much as possible with this model before I made the decision to get one, but I wasn't able to actually take a test sail. After my first sail, I am happy to report that my overall impressions, so far are very good. I've hit my shins on the Traveller several times, I have to remember its there! I selected this model primarily because of its size and performance characteristics! Another main reason for selecting this particular Capri, had to do with the fact that it had the Performance Package, although I probably won't do much actual racing. I do look forward to improving my overall sailing skills and Spinnaker usage! I plan on rigging the boat with both the Standard and Asymmetrical Spinnakers. Suggestions welcomed! I look forward to the easy of Trailering, Rigging/Launching, as well as sailing the boat by myself. First project in the off season is a Mast Rising System, details/pictures later.

Our Capri 22, 2006, Sail #1143, 5HP Honda, WKSR, Performance Package.
Everything looks good, but still have to figure out the routing of a few Reefing lines in the boom and label them.

Question regarding the outboard motor. The motor seems to be to deep in the lowest position (motor mount drags in the water) and to high in middle position. I've read somewhere that a few people have cut 1.5 inch off the mounting pad, I assume to lower the motor in the mid position. I could use some advise. Also, our old boat had an Inboard Diesel Motor, so there is a big transition back to using an outboard motor. I've installed the "Remote Mounted Controls" before with great success and will probably do it again on this boat. The "RMC" makes life really easy, especially when coming into the dock! Estimated part cost around $350.00, hopefully I'll find a used one.

Forgot to mention it came with a single axle trailer, no brakes. I weighed the boat/trailer, trailer axle only, and found the weigh to be 3200 lbs on the trailer axle. This is well within the axle/tire/suspension rated capacity, which is reassuring. The tires look like they are in good shape, accept they are the original tires, which means they are to old (past 6 years) and should be replaced to maintain safety! Since I also want a Spare Tire its timely to do it all now. My research
as shown, that I can install a "Surge Brake System," for around $600.00 in parts, I'll supply the labor. This is a lot of money, that I would rather spend on the boat, but it still is small price to pay for the added safety if I want to travel with the boat.

good idea on the brakes. 3200 pounds is too much not to have them. I've got an attwood surge controller on mine and it seems to do the job.

On the motor mount question, I have a 20" shaft motor and use the first notch. Usually there's no problem with the motor coming out unless I go all the way to the bow and no one else is in the boat to counterbalance me. I also find that the second notch is too low.

Good luck with your new yacht. I really am happy with mine as a day sailer. I also have the performance package and like the extra sail controls, etc. even if I only get the chute out once or twice a year.

Here you are... One thing this diagram doesn't show and had me scratching my head is the pin that the outhaul block is connected to. Mine was missing completely, so the block was just floating around inside the boom. The pin (or hole if it's missing) is about 1/4" of down the length from the aft end of the boom. Make sure the reef lines are run along the right side of the pin (I'm pretty sure they run above the pin, but it's been a few years).
