Does anyone have the dimensions of the cockpit on a mid 70's Hunter 30. I need to get a Bimini and the boat is 4 hours away. Would like to get an adjustable kit that will work in the time being until i can build a really solid custom rig

Thanks

I'll try to measure mine today. Remember the traveler and main sheet has to be clear, so I'll measure that point to the stern rail (Pushpit, Taffrail).

I made mine from a Sailrite kit. Tapped and machine-screwed the mounts to toerail to get maximum width. Also have traveler in cockpit but you can go well beyond the pushpit rail unless you have something like a radar pole back there. And I do.

Sorry Sean, Backus Interruptus has caused a delay in my timetable. Will try today. Thanks for giving me the spec you want, though my bimini frame is mounted on the winch lip, not the toe rail.

OK Sean, Here's what I was able to get for you:

Height from horizontal toe rail plane to top of the bimini at center - 58 inches.
Horizontal width from toe rail to toe rail at forward edge of bimini - 100 inches.
Horizontal width from toe rail to toe rail at stern edge of bimini - 72 inches.

Don't forget the split (or single ) backstay which must penetrate the bimini.

Hope this helps.

You should really build a simple jig out of 1x2 lumber to ensure proper height boom clearance, width, aft coverage. I have made two (one cloth and the latest is a hardtop) and the jig takes the guess work out. Or have a pro build you one for about $1k.

Thank you both, I plan on one day having a custom rig made, but need something for an end of month transit from Middle Chesapeake bay to Southern NC coastal. I have to change marinas and do not have time for a custom solution. I found a boxed bimini set from Overtons that fits the bill and can be removed quickly if needed.

Great! Looking to do something similar on my '82 H30. Plz post a couple photos when fully rigged/setup.

Thanks

If you get a chance on your passage south, don't miss anchoring up in Lookout Bight for a couple/few/many days.....
