Has anyone installed a Balmar 80 amp 6 series alternator on a Volvo MD11c? I am trying, but it won't fit the bracket that's in the boat. The old alternator was a French make, 35 amp. Do I have to have a bracket fabricated or is there a stock solution? Geoff

How is it tensioned?
Thanks for the picture. This could be the answer but I can't see what connects to the alternator to tension the belt. Is there a bracket behind the alternator? Mine has a bracket from the inboard bolt of the starter motor with a slot in the outer end that is supposed to bolt to the upper connecting hole on the alternator and serve as tensioner. That's what doesn't fit the Balmar. Geoff
