Has any one seen photos for the new Hunter 33 yet? They're not posted on Hunter's website. Wonder how different it is than the 326.

See 326 Specs

I just posted a picture from the Annapois Boat Show. I was told the 326 is basically the old 326 so I posted it under the 326. I had to shrink the picture to make it fit. If you want a better pic, send me your email

H33 Photos

I took about 5 photos of Hull #1 at the Annapolis Boat Show. I liked the interior layout a lot better than the H326. They moved the forward bulkhead to the back side of the mast post to create a longer V-berth and a seat in the forward cabin. I am 6'-4" and had plent of leg room to sleep in the V-berth. The salon table is smaller than the 326 allowing more isle room and better access to forward cabin door that is offset to starboard. Nice galley and good headroom throughout. Didn't like the outboard stays on deck..severely blocks access along the treadway to the bow. Winches on the combings behind the helm and on the cabin top will make single handed tacking and sail trimming easy. Looks like a great boat. My wife agrees! Send me your e-mail address and I'll send you my photos. rockyglen@aol.com

Must be a wife boat

I saw the 33 in Annapolis also. And MY wife loved it too. Hunter Marketing must be working overtime. She loved the interior also saying that she liked how open it was. But she did not like how the shrouds block the deck going forward. We were talking to the Customer Service guy who said that that had not taken pictures of the 33 yet. Sounds like hull 1 was rushed to make it to the show. Seems like Hunter tried to work in a lot of the features from the new 36. The one problem that stuck our for me was how the microwave was in a box in the rear of the galley. I could not find any ventilation holes for all the heat that it will put out. I'm not sure that I like the little front loading fridge either. Markdb

Thanks Bob

The 33 looks nice. Wish they had one at Liberty Landing in September. I like the roomy looking salon. Moving the post forward does a lot for the area, but I wonder what it does to the v-berth. I don't like the head 'closet', which I think takes too much room away from the cabin. The deck looks good - primaries back on the coaming and maneuvering winches on the coach roof. Are those tracks and cars on the side decks as well as the coach roof? I don't find the outboard shrouds to be a problem - same as my 290, and they give me something to hold on to with the outboard hand as I move forward. I think it's worth a look at the local dealer. It's Official

Just noticed that Hunter updated its website replacing the 326 with the new 33. They have some good pictures of hull #1. See link below This hull is allot longer than the 326, in fact the LWL is only 14" shorter than the Hunter 36.

Noticed it yesterday for the first time....

No list of standard equipment/options yet. But went back this morning and they're showing the 326 again.

More info...

Greg- Yes, Hunter put the 326 back in the line-up probably because dealers still have new stock and the 33 has not been finalized. Hunter did place the photos as part of the What's New listing. I have owned 2 Catalinas (22 and 270) and liked the 33 enough that I bought one at the Annapolis show. (traded in the Catalina 270)Base pricing was just over $90k and loaded was around $112 (show special). Hunter is still working on the galley and head details, but it looks like a great boat. I don't want to be too lengthy here, but if you would like more info just ask.

33 pricing

Currently, the boat and options are priced the same as on the 326. I believe the only two exceptions are the optional engine upgrade(27hp) and aft mounted cockpit winches with deck mounted genoa tracks. BTW not only is the 33 very pretty in the flesh it also sails like a dream.

You've sailed it?

Bob- Do you work for a dealer or just live close enough to the show that you were able to sail hull#1? This is one of the contingencies I wrote into my contract (test sail/sailing quality). I also asked the factory if they had done a polar diagram and they said they do not do that anymore because of the misinterpretation. This will be my first fractional rig and I'm trying to compare the 33 with the Catalina 320. Thanks. BTW I ordered both the bigger diesel and the cockpit winches.

test sail

Barry, In answer to your question, both,I work for the Maryland Hunter dealer and I live close by. Hull #1 unfortunately had to go back to Florida soon after the show but I did get a chance to sail it before it left. My general impression was that it handles much like all the Glenn Henderson designed Hunters. Fast but also well balanced with no particular nasty habits that I could find. You'll probably find that the fractional rig and end boom sheeting make the Hunter a little easier to short hand sail as well as a little sportier than the masthead rigged Catalina. Don't get me wrong, the Catalina 320 is a fine boat, it's just that Catalina tends to be a little more traditional. In the end it all depends on what looks good to you.

I like the 326 better

I saw one at the boat show and was disappointed in the changes. A straighter cockpit (harder to get around the wheel), substituted a larger cockpit locker but not as big as the 356 for the two stern lockers and a much more awkward cabin entrance . I like my 326 better.
