Has anyone sailed the new 27? If so, what are your thoughts about it? What's the price and is it a good value?

I have Hull #1. So far I am very happy with my boat. If I could do it again I would probably buy a used boat just because of all the stuff I have had to get for the new one. Things that I do not like about the 27: Traveler in front of the Pedestal is a design flaw. The Main Sheet if slack will wrap itself around anything on the pedestal, it even ripped the throttle control off on my Maiden Voyage. The Boat has a single 80 amp-hr battery. Very limited cockpit storage space. It does not have a built in Ice Box.

VA also!

Thanks for the review and warnings. I like the cool-a-tron style coolers. I have one that I use in my pickup all the time. Yes it will not keep food frozen, but it does well for me to keep it cold. Have you had problems with it? My dealer is upgraded the boat to dual batteries from the start. I was thinking about ripping out the radio / vhf pod, and building a full cabinet to the cabin top for extra storage. I would be interested to hear of any mods you have made and things to watch out for.

Up the Potomac

Maybe we will meet on the Bay some day. I am taking my Boat down to Deltaville for the Winter do do some mods. I am upgrading the electrical system so I have two batteries, house and cranking, with selector switch and a Link 10 Monitoring System. Also I am planning on putting in an AC, Dodger, Auto Pilot, and a few other odds and ends. Other than putting in a lot of Teak inside the cabin I haven't done anything to her. (I am not very handy) I do have that DC Cooler but I do not have it plugged in-single battery. The full cabinet sounds like a good idea. My bilge pump does not work in Auto. I am not sure it ever has. I replaced the pump but it is not that, another thing for them to look at in Deltaville. My Battery Charger went bad and had to be replaced, Deltaville sent sdomeone to Colonial Beach to look at it. I went sailing today, I had a great sail. I love that Boat.

Send me an e-mail sometime to share mods

I did not purchase from Deltaville. They did not want my money. I found a great dealer south of me from NC. He sold it to me with the a/c dual battery, diesel, amidship cleats, in mast furling, bimini, and marine head. I have been debating the dodger, but I like the wind in my face, and SWMBO sews so she is making the winch covers, and a "tarp" that goes over the boom. I got a great deal on teak, over 25 bft for $90. I do woodworking so if you have any ideas for mods, let me know.

SWMBO

She Who Must Be Obeyed! He is in the process of installing the heat and AC. Dave is a genius! I have seen him put AC in a 25! I am still waiting on delivery, as soon as it is in my anxious hands, I will take pictures.
