I'm the proud new owner of a 1985 222. The problem is that it did not come with a trailer and it is sitting in the water on a lake about 100 miles from me. I need to somehow get it over to the lake near me. My friend has a trailer for his Hunter but the cradle on his trailer is two shallow for the shoal keel on my Oday. Here are several ideas that I thought of. 1. Raise the "Hunter" trailer cradle skids with a temperary wooded overlay. Does anyone know the depth of the shoal keel from the bottom of the hull? 2. Rent a trailer for 24 hours from another Oday owner. Any Atlanta owners out there? 3. Hire a moving service. What do you think this would cost? Any other ideas on how to get it moved? I need to get it moved pretty soon.

Hi Terry. Congrats on you new boat. I just bought a 1975 Oday 25. It was 230 miles from my home. I contacted several haulers and went with one. It cost me $630. The hauler did everything. I wsa there when he picked the boat up to make sure everything went ok, and remove the rudder. He double checked everything. He loaded all the blocking and the five stands on his trailer. The wife and i went shopping and spent the night at my brothers. The next day when we got home the boat was setting in my yard just the spot i wanted it. My wife looked at me and said see all that worry for nothing. ( I hate it when she's right) Good luck on the water. Buck.

Hauling Your Boat
I see no problem in contacting another O'Day owner. Our club helps everyone out all the time. O'Day owners are proud of their boats and would not think of being careless with another's boat. It would sure be cheaper and you could make a new friend. Maybe they know of a club where you could share information/race/socialize.
