Does anyone know if the oday 22 will pop back up if the sails hit the water. Also is their a point in which you should not go beyond where there is a chance you will do damage to the side stays or stay attachment points? Can anyone recommend a good book for to learn more on the mechanics of sailing? Thanks Chuck

what I know

My sails have hit the water in a gust and the boat came right back up- I have a 1974 model that has a stub keel- (no center board) and when the wind kicks up and pushes the sail down the wind falls off the sail and the keel comes out of the water (both at the same time if you can picture that) causing the bow to go into the wind- I hear that the only problem could come from a very large wave (6'+) hitting the boat when it is sideways (this did not happen to me) - When I first got my boat I talked to Rudy - he said that the chainstays are underengineered for this model and there is an upgrade that needs to be done - (I did this and it cost very little) check with him about your model- Rudy at D&R Marine he is the one that I trust when it comes to info about odays there are many threads about Rudy on this website = if you cannot find them here google will do good luck Algae
