New 1983 Hunter 27

I'm happy to say that I can now join the Hunter owner's group with the closing on my first Hunter a 1983 27.5 in good shape. Needs work on oxidized gelcoat on deck but the rest is good. If anyone has hints or suggestions about initial maintenance please let me know

probably you can use verglass to keep your gelcoat from getting oxidised after you get done cleaning it.BTW congratulations in your new baby, I also have the 27 1983 for the last 11 years ans taken me all over the place and no big problemsGood LuckEd

I have an '82 Hunter 272 and love it! I've owned it since '95. I was fortunate enough to have gotten it VERY clean (the previous owner completely re-did the upholstery). Most of my sailing buddies are amazed to know that my boat is 19 years old. As far as the gel-coat, I buffed it out big-time when I first bought it (all BY HAND). Just use a coarse buffing compound. Good luck...it's a great boat!
