I need to replace my genoa sheets and want something different than the stay-set that I am replacing. I planned to get Trophy braid from Samson based on recommendations on this site but 1/2" isn't available.
I am not looking for a high-tech low stretch line because it is very oversized for handling ease. I am looking for something that isn't prone to hockle, is easy on the hand and holds well in the winch.
Any suggestions?

Did the store say when more will be available? Defender has ½" in white.

Its your choice obviously, but why would you even want half inch sheets on a C30?
3/8 inch sheets would be adequate and unless you are an avid racer, the stretch should not be an issue with the Sta Set.

1/2" is pretty big. That can be a problem if you can't get enough wraps on the winches, or it doesn't go easily around blocks, or does fit securely into a cam cleat or around a horn cleat. I had a 29' boat and 3/8 was plenty. I usually wear gloves so I'm less concerned about the hand.

I have been using 1/2" genoa sheets for 18 of the 20 years I have owned my C30. They work fine on the 40ST's and I like the way they feel in the hand over the 3/8" halyards and 5/16" spin sheets.

Hello,

I really like Endura Braid from New England Ropes. I would use 7/16 or 11mm instead of 1/2" but that's just me.

Good luck,
Barry

Sampson XLS runs just a hair smaller than Staset and is a little softer. Cheaper too, for a quality line. It should fit and run better, and still be very comfortable.
