Yow! What's the humidity?
I think I feel cooler here in the Sonoran desert...

Well its coming up on it, with humidities near 90 % the heat index will be in the triple digits in July and August and prime hurricane times in September.

James is right about the "Desert" moniker. Eastern Oregon is know as " High Desert Country". Lava, Silica, sagebrush and Juniper Trees. Elevations, once east of the Cascade Mountain Range mostly in the 3000 to 6000 ft (900 to 1800 meters). With the occasional volcanic mountain or Lava cone thrown in to spice up the landscape..

Our poster @pclarksurf looks to be up on the Washington side of the Columbia River. Great winds, to sail and wind surf on the dam controlled waters. We store a lot of recreational waters and electrical energy to support the region, and California.

Humidity is running about 40% in the coolest hour of the early morning — will stay under 20% as the day heats up. We always joke we can handle some temps because “it’s a dry heat!” Which we all know is a fallacy — after low 100’s it’s just plain old freaking hot outside

10am Already in the 90’s — should be a fun weekend chasing shade. Stay cool folks !

Heat Index vs heat index. One is the proper name of the specific measurement and one is a description of a measurement. I thought the proper name, coming from a weather guy, was not odd at all. I do that kind of thing all the time, which... I guess... kinda makes justsomeguy's point :what:

That's nuts. I was in 115 degrees a few times, and I still remember it 40 years later. On the plus side - if you go - you'll remember it forever.

We have a family friend that used to own an auto repair shop by Dallas. He worked in 115 degree weather on numerous occasions. Mid 90's is my upper limit for sailing

Do it. It's a total game changer. You feel so much less fatigued at the end of a sail
Definitely - it's great sitting in the shade under the bimini, and having a nice breeze off the water flow through. I'm a convert.

True this. Went with a friend who had never sailed; after the parking lot setup (got lucky and found shade) got launched and onto a port tack in light air and the breeze just stopped. Spent an hour drinking in the shade of the main (when could get it) then turned in. Ordered the bimini the next day.
