I have a S2 8.0c and am starting to look for a dinghy. I am new to sailing.

In my research, I came across a nesting dinghy. Does anyone have any thoughts, recommendations, or information I can use in regards to a nesting dinghy?

I also would appreciate any suggestions you might have for a dinghy for me.

I think I want a sailing dinghy that I can row or use a small motor if need be.

My plan is to sail the Great Lakes for a while and then head to Florida. There will be two of us sailing.

You should repost to ask all sailors to get more responses. A dinghy is a surprisingly personal choice. Nesting/sailing dinghys certainly exist...but might cost half as much as your 8.0C when kitted out with sails and an outboard.

We're currently in the market for a dingy (and fairly new sailing as well) got some advice recently that you might appreciate..... Inflatables are a good option because they are not "tippy" when getting on your boat and also they are soft sided and won't nick your gel coat when at a slip or anchored in rough water. The down side would be that some don't plane well if you like to go fast with a motor. We are choosing an inflatable for our new S2 8.5. Ours will have an inflatable floor which is not as sturdy as the folding floor but has less parts to keep track of. I'm somewhat convinced we're making the right choice :). Experienced opinions are a big help!

I've never heard of a nesting dingy. Interesting concept!
