I'm about to purchase a new beneteau 43 and would like to know what I can negotiate for in terms of options and upgrades. Any recommendations?

Tha best legal advise I have gotten in this

regard is that you can put anything in a contract that you can get the other guy to sign. Nothing is off limits. If you want them to repaint the bottom each year ask them to add it to the contract. If they sign it, then they paint the bottom each year.

Here what you do

got to at least two dealers and get quotes. Then play them against each other. See how low they go!

We will be coming into the same arena next year. Manufacturers maintain their and their dealers margins by restricting the number of dealers in a region. Unless you are willing to travel and sail or truck the boat from another part of the country, you are really limited on your options. Buying a new boat is definitely not like buying a used boat. I cannot help but think that although the buying a used boat is a buyers market, the limitations for new boats, especially ordered from the factory, create a new boat sellers market.

Do new boats suffer from depreciation in a manner

similar to new cars? I often see 1-3 year old boats for sail. The copy always says, " lightly used, asking xxxx, etc." I think that sometimes the very wealthy want to try a new toy, decide they don't like it and sell it off.
