How is using the term “neglected” several times to describe boats not a “negative expression”?I started this thread to simply share these neglected beauties, thinking someone else may have interest in it as well. No negativity expressed or implied.
Last winter or the one before, there was a thread about a Little Harbor that sank in Hamburger Cove Ct. There was lots of commentary about how and why such a valuable boat was left to that fate. No posts about shaming. I don't know if that is right or wrong. More and more I appear to be "Undecided."Every boat, big or small, tells a story about the owner. Trouble is these boat stories often have sad endings.![]()
It happens all the time. People in Southold used to put a cheap boat on a mooring in front of their house to keep others from dropping a mooring there. Folks put boats on moorings when their turn comes up on a waiting list. Same for town docks and other marinas. Some towns take measures to make more equitable arrangements. Others, not.I know of instances where a boat is acquired to hold a spot for a better boat that is in the wings....No excuse, though. There are people out there who would love to own a boat..
Interesting perspective. Although I’m not sure the photos are a fair comparison.I don‘t see the shaming. I see some interesting stories maybe. I always wonder why some boats get like that and what their story is. I know I couldn’t afford to let my money go to waste like that
.View attachment 186140 I think something like this should be shamed. Abandoned and letting the taxpayer pick up the cleanup cost.
Damm @Ralph Johnstone ! Where did I leave it?

Don't know if any of them were cement. They all appeared to be (what was left of them) either plank or plywood. Which one do you suspect is concrete ?@Ralph Johnstone is the cement sailboat the one at the back of Echo Bay?
The one down past the marina opposite the broken down hall. Did a kayak explore this summer around to. Billy Proctors. Some interesting old stuff .Don't know if any of them were cement. They all appeared to be (what was left of them) either plank or plywood. Which one do you suspect is concrete ?
