My new (to me) boat is on the hard awaiting new bottom paint and I have to move fast (so I have not searched the archives.) What's good for removing paint in designated areas? Read on..Previous owner raised the water line because they lived aboard. They did not, however, sand the gel coat, so the extra paint above the original waterline is about 80% off and I need to remove the rest of it. I want to go back to the original waterline. I've seen all the postings about peel-away and vaious paint removers. I don't think I need anything that serious. I'm thinking about acetone. What else works? The paint is ablative and I've been brushing it tonight but not making much progress. I'd appreciate any suggestions as I have to get it done tomorrow evening - one way or the other. Also, any good ideas for removing barnacles from the gel coat? Obviously I can scrape off the shell, but what about the film left behind. Thanks again.Dons/v Tellico
