need towing advice

Im sure this is a stupid question, but Ill ask anyways.
I am going to look at a Hunter 26 on Wednesday and I am driving a 09 v6 dodge journey. It is stated at 3500# tow capacity. If I buy it my travel home is around 350 miles. how crazy is it to tow it back in the Journey, or should I just be patient and wait for the weekend when I can grab the truck and drive back out there and get it.
As I re-read my post I already have my answer, but Ill let you all chime in anyways:D

It would be downright foolish to attempt towing over your gvcw rating. You could always rent a U-haul truck to tow it back and bring a 2nd driver for your vehicle.

Hope it turns out to be a nice H26 for you!

Sounds like you have good "sailor sense". If something sounds like a bad idea to you it probably is.
Congrats on the new boat!

I rented a Ford F150 from U-Haul to tow my h23.5 home. It was about 350 mi round trip. I believe U-Haul only rents these trucks locally so I rented at my home port and drove it to get my new boat and bring it home. It is probably best to go to your UHaul agency in person and reserve the truck ahead of time. Phone is OK to reserve it but I wouldn't trust their online reservation system. I couldn't find any other company that would rent a truck for towing. Good luck!

I agree with all above. There is one on the trailer next to me in my marina, every time I pass it I think it`s all my GMC Sierra could handle. Congrats, now buy a truck!! ;)

If getting home is the problem rent a budget truck. Pulled a boat fort myers to charlotte.

I finally went out and picked up my new H26. It was a 263 mile trip and no I didn't use the Dodge Journey. I used a Rav 4 :eek:. JK I was smart and waited for the Silverado to be available and went out Sunday and picked her up. :dance:

I knew there would be some great comments. Thanks for all the replies.
