My Raymarine ST60 wind instrument is dead, on our newly acquired 1991 Hunter Passage 42. The anemometer and wind vane at the masthead turn, but ohmmeter indicates no current passing along the wire down the mast, and the display at the helm had a busted cover, so probably salt air has destroyed this part of it anyway. I think it can't be repaired, so I am planning to replace it. All the other helm instruments are Raymarine and all are working, including autopilot, depth sounder and boat speed, and with Garmin GPS
I am curious to know what preferences on brand names for wind instrument replacements and what are the reliability and advantages of different types if any, and if anyone has used the TackTick wireless system and what is your experience with it, as it would simplify installation as no wiring need be fished down the mast.
