I need to replace the seacocks under the sink in the head on my 1986 Hunter 31. It looks like I will have to remove the counter wall under the sink and maybe the sink as well in order to get to the seacocks. I am hoping to be able to remove the seacocks without removing the part that goes through the hull. That way I won't have to worry about replacing the thruhull at the same time. This looks like it is going to be a pretty tough job. Am I going about it the right way? What should I look out for. I would appreciate tips or suggestions from anyone who has done this before I get into it this coming weekend. The boat is out of the water.

and maybe a tool to hold the thru hull fitting. I fabricated a tool to hold the internal tabs on the fitting from the outside. When I replaced five valves I made one of the thru hull fittings spin a small amount and had to remove and rebed it to insure it wouldn't leak. have fun!

Ours have been replaced.

Dan: Ours have been replaced (overboard discharge and raw water intake) and the cabinet was NOT taken apart. I would think that a special wrench like a plumbers basin wrench would help do this job. I would suggest that you also put a ball valve on the sink drain (if you do not have one). If you do not have the tools, you may want to have the yard give you a quote and have them do it.
