Anyone able to help with the specs. on this boat? I know it has an Atomic 4 but don't know if fixed or swing keel. it's weight or beam. I'm in Eastern PA boat in NJ and will need to trailer it about 120 miles. Any info will be appreciated.

A bit pricey to move

Bought one(somewhat newer) last spring, love it! BE SURE to get a survey before you buy. Include the A4 in the survey. There are some wonderful C27's out there, and some that are about done and ill-maintained. Be sure you know what you're getting. They (broker) moved mine on it's cradle on a flatbed truck. Charged me $500 to do it, which was competitive with a couple of other quotes. I commissioned it. YOu can email me offline at tom.monroe@swic.edu of you want to discuss. Tom Monroe Carlyle Lake

Rent a flatbed or lowboy

Buy a twile-axle flatbed trailer as I did when I purchased a C-25, because any yard with a Travelift can dip it in and out of the water, a I winter it next to my bedroom window and save $100.00 per month. If what you want can be lifted, you'll save whatever you spend and have a greater pool of potential buyers when you are ready to sell. Store the mast under the bow and stern pulpits, to make sure you can pass underneath U. S. Highway overpasses. Also, buy a heavy-duty long-haul truck tarp; it will save over 10 years of windblown shrinkwrap. Keep me posted and good luck. Leroy

27 is not a trailer sailer boat

Not sure if I understand your question. You can trailer a 27 for a one time move but the boat is fixed keel and would not be a trailerable boat from PA to NJ on a turnaround. I'm from Easton, PA. The Catalina 25 with a swing keel is about as big as you can go and still trailer sail. Visit the C27 web site - just search C27 and you will find all you need. I owned a C27 for 14 years and just loved the boat.

Can be done, but,

I have my C27 on a trailer and use it as a trailer sailer. The biggest concern is the weight facter, are you aware that the boat and trailer combination will weigh in at least 9000lbs? Unless your going to use it as trailer sailer, I don't think it's worth the effort. Besides need a very powerfull vehicle and a trailer with sufficient braking power and other specialized equipment, you will also run into legal issues such as road restrictions. The beam of a C27 is wider than permitted on most hi-ways necessatating the acquisition of road permits something that may not always be obtainable. For a short oneway haul like you are talking about, I would recomend contacting a local trucking firm.
