Looking to find other 1988 Hunter 26 with winged shoal keel to gain knowledge in order to rehab a recent acquisition. All information I have found on HunterOwners.com appears to pertain to new models, all with swing keels. Needless to say I am .
I don't believe the 26 was built from 1993 to 1997 and I don't think they ever made a 26 with a fixed keel (that was the 270, right?). Your hull number would shed some light on what you've got.
In 1988 there was a Hunter 27 wing keel not a 26. The 26.5 was before that boat and the 26 water ballast was available in August, 1993 for the model year 1994.
Does the boat have an inboard diesel or powered by an outboard as the 27 was available in both. Post a photo of the boat and then we can be more specific to the model.
Thanks fo the response Dave. The hull number is HUN-B0267C888 and it is powered with an outboard motor mounted on the starboard side. It has a tiller not a wheel pedestal.
Recheck the hull number as I thought the 26.5 production had ceased by then. I could be wrong but how about a photo of the boat to make sure which one it is.
Further checking on my end revealed that indeed it is a 26.5 built in 1988. I have read several reviews and pictures on HunterOwners.com and for sure it is the model I have. Thank you for you reply.
Do you have any info on the wiring diagrams for this boat? Previous owner was working on an automatic bilge pump and was unable to get it working I guess. Any additional info you could point me to on this boat would be greatly appreciated.
You seem to be the "GO TO" guy and I am sure I am not the only one who appreciates you presence on the forum. Thank You.
Electrical diagram, plumbing diagram and additional info is in the owners manual in the link I included earlier. Some additional info is available here
You will also find some current owners on this site listed in the boat info tab at the top of the page. Currently active owners seem to be near the bottom of the list - checking their profile will indicate their last activity on this site.
The 26.5 was replaced by the 27 that came out in 1988 which is why looking at photos was the only way to make sure as two of the 27's had the 26.5 designation and had to redo the hull numbers. That is why I could not tell for sure.
