Need spreaders for the mast

I originally posted this on the Mid-size Boat forum, but was given advise to post it here.

I am trying to identify the spreaders needed for a 1980 Hunter 27. I have tried contacting Hunter-Marlow (no info in their archives). Got some advice that the spreader length should allow shroud to drop vertically to the chain plates. I have posted pictures on the attachment plates with me holding a tape measure to give a sense of scale and one of the previous owner's.

I can't say for certain that your mast/boom/spreader etc are Kenyon. But my 1980 36 is. And I've seen much reference to other Cherubini models having them as well.

Attached is a pic of the spreader on my Kenyon mast. From an invoice of a prior owner, the SS screws holding the spar/mast fastening piece had galvanic corrosion weakness in their threads to the mast. They were drilled out and heli-coils were inserted to make good again.

Just a thought -- with your photos and measurement of the spreader attach-to-mast part, maybe you could call Rigrite and then eMail them the pictures. I would think that someone there would be able to quickly identify which spreader size and shape is the right one. Also on the Rigrite.com, in case you hadn't noticed, are diagrams of mast cross section dimensions and shape which can help you identify.

I just supplied spreaders for a Hunter 27 (your vintage) had purchased them from Kim at Rig Rite. I think they were something awful price-wise, but he has them. They are air foil and under $200.

Contact Dwyer Aluminum Mast Co for rigging parts. Their prices will be vastly less than RigRite's, and they are knowledgeable enough to advise you on which to buy.
