I had a boat that had Barient winches. Not sure which model, but they were 2-speed non-self tailers. One winch jammed and so I took it apart only to find that one of the pawl springs had disintegrated and parts of it were in the main bearing race. Yikes. As it turned out, I had some Lewmar rebuild kits with me and so cleaned up the innard and tried the Lewmar springs and pawls. Bingo. Fit like a glove. You may want to give Lewmar parts a try. Hope it works.
