Have also sent a email to Hunter. (as I was typing Eddie replied 14 cubic ft but was not documented)

Need a new evaporator and trying to calculate the size I'm going to need. I measured both boxes and came up with about 9 cubic ft.

Anyone else out there have a guess or measurement?

The box size, cruising area and desired box operating temperature will determine size compressor required. Once maximum capacity of compressor is determined for box to be refrigerated you will want an evaporator with equal capacity. Watch the slide show on what works and what does not on my web site at http://www.kollmann-marine.com.

Richard,
Thanks for the reply. Have been reading your site for the last couple of days.

Currently, in the H356 I have the Alder/Barbour ColdMachine with a U-shaped evaporator that is about 40" long 15" high.. Dometic support told me it was a VD-152-6 installed on the H356.

Looking at replacing the entire unit, this one is 10+yrs old. Thinking of installing the exact same compressor but the evaporator is obsolete. So, can an evaporator from a different company be used? Are the connectors compatible?

Will be headed to the Bahamas in October. We normally buy block/cubed ice and have it in the freezer and refrig side. We are not looking to make ice with this setup, which has worked for us over the years.

edit: If my measurement are close 4 cuft freezer and 5 cuft refrig

Appreciate any knowledge.
