I have a Standard Horizon 1989-90 anemometer on my Hunter 30. Recently a wind storm took off the spinning unit on the device mounted at the mast head. Does anyone know where I might find an old wind cup part for this discontinued item? Has anyone fabricated one from another type of unit???

This may sound ridiculous but it is worth a try. I shredded the belt on my Navico WP10 auto pilot. I called Navico (Simrad) and they stated they have not supported that product in over 10 years and could not help me. I tried a wider search and found them for sale on Amazon. I ordered one for 17.99 two days ago and it should arrive this week. Amazon is worth a try. Stranger things have happened.
There is a second hand consignment shop in Mystic Ct., and they have a place in RI as well, I think. They also do internet networks so I would try them, after Amazingzon. It's likely you have to change the whole unit - not just a wind cup.
Why wouldn't a newer sender work? I don't imagine they've changed that much.
