I've bought a damaged boat (1993 33.5 Hunter) in Purta Gorda Fl. The mast is damaged and laying on top of the deck with the sails and rigging tangled. (The boat is in an insurance yard on stands.) I'm looking for someone that will remove the sails and secure the boom and what's left of the mast. So far all I've gotten is "Don't know if you can get anybody down there to do anything". I'm thinking it will take 3 hours and I'll pay $300.00, yes that's $100.00 per hour. The transport company said it's my responsibility to ready it before they can move it. (Hopefully on the 22nd, if we can locate a Crane.) Can you help? Thanks, Mike

Thanks!

I found a guy that lives in Punta Gorda last night and he said that he'd get the boat ready Saturday morning. If something happens I'll get back to one you you three ASAP. I really appreciate your willingness to help. I hated to drive 1,300 miles for 3 hours work. Mike

I'll do it

I know where your boat is, I live 20 minutes away. I can do it any day you want, if your other guy backs out. Let me know if you need me. crazy cracker

lots of help

See Cobra, lot$ of help around here if you $peak the right language. Just kidding, it is getting better every day. You just had to be patient and let some of us get our own lives back up and running before we went off to work on someone elses boat. Frustrating as it is for you, you should smell life from our point of view down here. Good luck with the move and rebuilding of your new boat. Keep a photo log from start to finish and keep it posted here, I'd be interested an your progress. I wish I had done the same from before Charley until now but I've been kinda busy recently... Oh well, I'm now down to two boats thanks to Charley so I'll have less to maintain and more time to sail/fish.

Loss for words... Thanks

Crazy Cracker, I can't tell you how sorry I am for you that live in the destroyed areas of Florida. It's easy to forget how much damage there is and how long it will take to clean-up and repair if you're hundreds of miles away. After I found a person that would ready my boat Saturday morning the transport company called and said, we have a crane for Friday at Lunch (and cranes are hard to come by). This caused a couple more problems for me. The transport guy has someone that's going to look today (Wed) and give him a price to secure the mess on the deck. If that falls through I'm going to call Brian. I really appreciate the help offered. Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike

I got your message on my voice mail. I will be home for the rest of the night, but I have to mow the grass, so give me a call after 7 pm and we will work out the details. I can definitely do it tomorrow afternoon. If you can't get me, try 239-283-1069.

Mike

It's 11:30 pm and I haven't heard from you. If you want me to do the job we need to talk about the details. If I don't hear from you by tomorrow afternoon I'll assume you don't want me to do it.

Hello Brian!

Brian, Don't even know where to start... OK, talking to the transport company yesterday (after he'd changed the original schedule once because of crane availability) which cancelled the deal with Tom (he was going to get the boat ready Saturday morning *original schedule). Next the transport guy said he had someone that would get the boat ready before Friday (this was Monday). Tuesday the transport guy hasn't heard anything from his guy. On Wednesday I called him after 4:00 and ask about his guy... He hasn't heard from him and asked me to get in touch with someone if I had anyone else. At that point I called your telephone number and left you a message. At 5:30 the transport guy calls me back and says his guy will start Thurdsay. I meant to try and get back to you last night but I haven't slept in about 3 days over the boat, transport, crane, locating someone to help and the large amount of money it's costing just to get this wreck moved to SC. I apologize for the lack of context above but I think you get the idea how difficult this has been. (No need to get into the crane and transport!) Since the transports guy will get the boat ready I won't need your help. I really appreciate you offering to help. Ever seen a old guy in a Yellow 427 Cobra in Cape Coral? That's my pal "Cobra Dan". Thanks, Mike Cathcart Greenwood, SC (Couldn't Get email to work)
