Who do I call for a part that is rivited to the boom that holds the main sail on the boom and attaches to the mast. It is aluminum and I have no idea what it is called. It has a bolt that holds the main on and also a twisted stainless steel part that you use to reef the main. When I tightened the bolt that holds the main and the reefing part, I did it too tight and being so old one of the ears broke. Maybe its called a yolk? Help, new to the monohull circuit, but can assure you this Oday 25 is one hell of a rough weather vessel.

part name

The part you need is called a gooseneck. You will have to determine who made your boom and mast and try to get one from the manufacturer. Maybe some other O'Day 25 owner can supply that info.

Help finding part

If you don't see the maker's label somewhere on your mast, try looking here anyway. http://www.rigrite.com where many mast and boom brands are covered. They have exploded views of most mast and boom assemblies. My O-26 has a KENYON mast and boom. (1984). I know they have these parts. Perhaps they will have yours. Good luck.

Sounds like same problem

We sold our O'Day 25 this past summer but it too experienced the same problem you desribe. Didn't know I had the problem til the new owner pointed it out. Apparently a previous owner reversed the casting so that the eye underneath the boom (for a Cunningham, apparently) was up instead of down. We used the eye to attach the main sail tack. Who'd a thunk it! BTW our O'Day 25 was a 1979 model with boom and mast by Kenyon Marine. Mike s/v Charisma 1982 H36
