Hello everyone,
I have a Catalina 22 MKII and one of the turnbuckle ends is bent. I am pretty sure that they are presenty 1/4-28 threads but will confirm. I realize this is a silly question, but do I need to replace them in pairs?

Also, any advice on a good supplier or are they all pretty much the same?

Finally, I note that some folks use a quick release type, primarily trailor sailors (?). I take down the mast every winter and step every summer but otherwise do not mess with it.

Thanks for the advice.

You'll a little more information. One end of the turnbuckle is right hand thread, the other left hand.

If the stud is on the wire rigging, a trip to the rigger will be necessary. If it is the part that attaches to the boat, you won't need a rigger.

I have purchased turnbuckles for my shrouds from the store here on the SBO site.

rgrainger, this is great. the only part that I actually need is the "Brass Nut Threaded Toggle Jaws", which they have. Thanks for the link.

That is exactly what I purchased too. I'm guessing yours got jammed as you were raising the mast and bend the shaft. That is what I did anyways.... Live and learn. I now have a routine where I pause with the mast about half way up, and I do a "walk around" all of my rigging to make sure everything is as it should be. Then I complete the raise.

Actually makes sense. I will certainly do the walkabout from now on!
