My 1980 H27 Tall rig needs a new main sail. Looking at sails here, Air Force, and Masthead. Any comments from current users. I'm thinking of going to a 4 full batten, loose footed main of 6 to 7 oz dacron for coastal cruising. Any comments on sailmakers or full battens and loose foot for H27? Appreciate any comments

Doyle partial full batten

is a great main on our '77 h27. Our sailmaker advised us that full battens were not needed lower down where the boom/outhaul controls shape. (This is for cruising - not sure what he would say for racing) He also recommended the loose foot with which we are very happy. (We've had ours for 3 full seasons.) The only argument against the loose foot is that it allows leakage off the bottom, lowering sail efficiency. Doesn't seem to be an issue on our boat. And I like the simpler system, and cleaner view of shape that the loose foot gives. David Lady Lillie
