Need new canvas

Greetings and Happy New Year

Well, after 9 years it is time to replace my dodger and bimini canvas. After enduring Hurricane Irene this fall it became apparent that the canvas had given all it could.

So I'm looking to replace before July this year and looking for recommendations. Area I will consider is Cobb Island, MD upto Solomons Island down to Deltaville. As always, cost is a factor but will pay for quality work.

I have canvas on my boat from the Ships Taylor in Deltaville, VA. The canvas work was top notch but I am not sure on the price. You have seen the quality of my canvas.

Don listed a mobile canvas worker on the yahoo groups web site that may be worth looking into as well.

2nd vote for ship's taylor....two boats worth and they did an awesome job....their price was about 5% higher than the girl down at the Riverside Center North Shopping Center...but they use top notch materials and do the best around.

I buy my canvas from Mariana's Lifestyle in San Diego. She charges $10/yd for Sunbrella. She also has a Sunbrella supreme that has a soft coat on one side excellent when covering gel coat ($15/yd).

I think Practical Sailor just did a study regarding the various fabrics that are available for dodgers, etc. it is worthwhile getting up to speed on the fabrics B4 talking to the fabricators.
