Yesterday my shrouds, which was new, failed on the starboard side and mast went over the port side and broke.
Luckily no one was hurt.
Motored back in and plenty of friends helped with getting everything out of the water and back on the boat. Forward and rear shroud pulled out of the turnbuckle fitting.
I am insured.
I am now looking for a new or used mast for my boat. Does any one have an idea where to look? Are new masts still available?

Ooof!

An experience I hope never to share.

Any chance of photos of the part that failed?

I'm pretty sure that any similar mast structure from any boat could be put to use with a few simple mods. Too long for example, is easily fixed :p

Wyoming eh??? and I thought I was land locked...

You should call Catalina Yachts.... they would have replacement masts and other gear. At least their customer service folks may be able to advise what needs replacing. Call the number at the bottom of the factory home page.

There is a guy up here in the great white north that dismasted a couple of years ago, an older Pearson 27. He bought another Pearson on the cheap and got a mast plus alot of other spare parts. His boat is pretty sweet now. Just a thought. Took a rigger though...

I spoke with Catalina. They contacted Selden.
A new mast from Selden with mast head, base and spreaders was $6200 plus $4000 to $5000 to ship.

Have you tried a marine salvage yard? Or asked around for someone local that salvages boats one at a time? In boating communities there are often people who do this for a living, and have a lot of spare parts lying around. I am in Florida, and am aware of a guy locally that does repairs, and salvages boats. He has a half-dozen masts alongside his garage from sailboats he has salvaged. PM me if more information would help.
