need info on Naples, Delnor-Wiggins SP

Yahooo! They have a job opening and look at old farts like me as "Experienced" and "Seasoned". In other words, we work without being told, and we do it right.
I would prefer to live on my boat, a 37'er with a 4' draft. Any ideas for marina's, anchoring sights, campgrounds, would help as the job doesn't pay much, and I would still have expenses
here in OHIO till I sell the house.
What is the area like? Sailing wise, bugs, season's, etc. I just don't want to move and find out I work in a place surrounded by ghetto (where I work now).

Not alot of Getto if you will, Naples is the highest priced area on Floridas west coast, Marinas are nice and pricey, anchorage hard to come by, cooler in winter than SE coast Hotter in summer than SE coast, thats why we live in the Keys, Bugs? Slips in Naples.

Yep, you might want to sell the house before you look for a slip. And I hope I do not offend but sailing is not very good there. If you can afford a marina it is a long motor to open water. The bay is kind of narrow, especially between the marks. Might be better to look north around Fort Myers and Charlotte Harbor. But it would be quite a commute.

I live in Naples, and I have to agree with the previous post that we have summer heat, bugs at dusk and dawn, and everything boating is pricey. I disagree with the poor sailing statements. For day sailing I have never had a bad day of sailing here. I have the advanage of sailing a 25 Macgregor (Swing Keel) and dock it at my home dock. I am 30 minutes from open water. Their are slips available at the Cove Inn on Naples Bay that are reported to be reasonable and would suite your needs I believe. Your post for Wiggins State Park info, I can only advise that it is a nice place to enjoy the beach and launch a small fishing boat on the bay side. You have Ft. Myers Beach to the north about 20 miles that has liveaboard and deeper water and some mooring balls available. Good luck and don't let them pay you half cash and half in sunshine.....it's been very cloudy here of late.

All the local guys can't be lying. I was last in Ft. Myers beach last March and I gotta say I liked it a lot: a little bit of a tamer Key West attitude with some high rises but a decidedly biker/hippy kind of feel if that makes sense. We passed through Naples and it seemed decidedly a bit too 'un-ghetto' for the likes of letterman (not that I know you well enough to presume) with high rises all along the beaches that were visible all the way to Sanibel Island.
One place we checked out that I liked a lot for its sort of 'old Florida' feel was Big Pine Island, just north of Sanibel. No major tourism except some locals and no high rises with only a few places you could keep a boat. I'm not sure if that is too far from where you were hoping to work (it is off the coast of Coral Gables, IIRC).
When were you planning on moving your 37' Irwin down there from Cleveland?
