I recently bought a 1986 Hunter 34' that is located near Tampa. I live in Pensacola, FL. and intend to go to Tampa next week to bring the boat home. I need to get a Racor fuel filter but do not know the model number or item number. Does anyone know the model number or BoatUS item number so I can purchase the filter here and take it with me to Tampa. This boat has the Yanmar 3GM30F engine. Thanks

Racor was not standard

Racor filters were not standard on the 1986 H34. So if there is one installed you will need to see which model it is.

Racor not standard

Thanks for the information. I was incorrectly assuming that the Racor was standard and I don't think any mods have been made. Do you have the information on the standard factory installed filter? Thanks again John

Shake-down?

Have you taken the boat on a shake-down cruise? How long has the fuel been in the fuel tank (may have algae or water in the fuel). How about the Yanmar fuel filter on the engine? Has it been changed recently? How about the raw water pump impeller? How old are the belts? Crossing the Gulf of Mexico is a serious thing. How old are the batteries? When was the shaft packing last replaced? Make sure you are ready when taking a boat you do not know the status of the systems. Good luck!

I believe Fram was standard

I think that a Fram filter was standard on the 1986 H34....at least that is what was on mine when I purchased it and it looked like the original. I can't remember the model or part numbers though. Tom

Shake down cruise

Bob, I agree with your comment about the importance of being prepared before crossing the gulf. It will take us a few days to prepare the boat for the trip and all of the items you mentioned are on our "to do" list. I have already bought a raw water empeller, new belts, new Yanmar fuel filter and a new battery. My major concerns now are making sure that the fuel is algae free and to change the fuel filter. I was hoping to buy the fuel filter here and take it with me but there is some question about which filter to get so I may have to wait on that. Regards John

Possibly a Racor 110

But I wouldn't guarantee it. You can check it out. If it is a cartridge type (within a cylinder), it may be a 110. You really have to look at it to tell. There should be a label on the side of the unit.
