Dear O Day Owners,
Can anyone provide a picture or photo copy of their capacity plate for a 1979 25 ft O' Day Sailboat? I did try calculating the weight of passengers and gear but it does not make sense for balancing passengers and gear in real time for the type of vessel I own.
Thank you

Powerboats over 20' and all sailboats are not required by the USCG to have a Capacity Plate, so O'DAY did not provide one for any of their boats. O'DAY "rated" the 25 for 6 persons (1979 Brochure), although that was based on each person being an average of 150#. I would think that 5-6 persons in the cockpit would not cause a problem, weight-wise.

Dear Sunbird,
does the 1979 brochure discuss max weight of gear, passengers, and motor ?

No, just lists "Sailing Displacement" (weight) which includes 5 persons @ 150# each.
Max weight of the outboard was listed on the OB bracket based on the O'DAYs that I've seen (since that would be based mostly n the capacity of the lift springs, but it may have only stated a HP limit).
Pretty much, we Sailors are apparently considered to have more common sense than powerboaters, and so these figures are not listed in the brochures (might have been included in some of the original paperwork from O'DAY at time of original purchase?)
