I don't have any input regarding the 40 but I have an 89 Legend 37 and love it. My review should be on the web site but in summary it is a great sailing boat, lots of space down below, "semi" walk through transom is convenient (but not as nice as the newer Hunters). Disadvantages are small cockpit (OK for cruising, a pain for racing) and very little on deck storage space. Started looking at 33/34, thankfully my wife insisted on bigger. The 37 was as much as I wanted to spend, lots of boat for the money.
